Natural Ways To Prevent And Cure Sunburns









Beauties and Gents! Summer will be coming soon and it is the most critical season for sunburns to happen. When we have over exposure to sun our skin becomes red and sore on the surface because of being exposed to sun rays and UV rays. That's why it is very important to take the proper steps to protect our skin from sun damage and we can do it naturally. So I wanted to provide you with some tips to help keep your skin healthy and protected while going out in the sun.





How To Prevent Sunburns-






Natural Sunscreens-



Mix 2 ounces of Sesame Oil, 2 ounces of Aloe Vera Gel, 1 teaspoon of Vitamin E Oil and 24 drops of Lavender Oil in a clean bottle or plastic container, shake it well before using it.



Mix 4 ounces of Avocado Oil with 30 drops of Lavender Oil in a clean bottle or plastic container, shake well and you can use.

Coconut Oil and Red Raspberry Seed Oil are good for sun protection also.




Using Carrier Oils for sun protection can help, Such as Coconut, Jojoba, Avocado, Grape Seed Oil, and Olive Oil. 


Wait about an hour after applying any oil to go out in the sun.



Try to stay out of the sun between peak hours 11 am to 2 pm, wear light colored clothing, and also wear hats and sunglasses to protect your face from the sun.




You can eat tomato products such as Ketchup prior to sun exposure, it is high in Lycopene, this will help prevent sunburn.




Get Vitamin D, this increases sun tolerance, protection against sun damage, this offers protections against UV damage, and lowers the chance of tumor development.




Drink some Green Tea. Dietary Green Tea has Polyphenols which prevent the development of skin tumors by controlling inflammation and preventing DNA damage.




If purchasing any sunscreens. Look for natural ingredients in them, such as Plant Oils, Antioxidants, Vitamins E and Vitamin C.








How To Heal Sunburns-




Chamomile, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rose Hips and Buckthorn Oils are good for inflamed skin. They can be applied directly to your skin or added to your bath water.




As I've mentioned before, Aloe Vera Gel is an anti-inflammatory it is the most common and effective treatment for sunburns. You can apply fresh Aloe Vera Gel to your sunburn this will help your epidermis layer heal faster.




You can apply Plain Yogurt to your skin as soon as it turns red to help cool the skin, re-establish pH balance and promote faster healing. It is best to use full fat Yogurt that contains a little amount of additives. Let it sit on your skin until it warms and then rinse it off with tepid water. Apply as much as needed.





You can use make a paste mixed with Barley, Turmeric and Plain Yogurt in equal proportions. Apply it to your sunburns, this will give relief and promote healing.




Mix together equal parts of Aloe Vera Gel and some Coconut Oil with a spoon or fork for 2 minutes and then add in 5 drops of lavender Oil. Store in a jar and apply to your sunburn.




Green Tea is very good for sunburns, it provides healing. Add in 15 to 20 tea bags in your warm bath and soak for 20 to 30 minutes.




Baking Soda Bath To Heal Sunburns-




Add 1/4 cup of Baking Soda to a warm bath and soak for 15 to 30 minutes. You can also use cold water and dissolve 1/4 cup of Baking Soda put it in a clean spray bottle and spray it on your skin.




You can spray Witch Hazel on your skin or fill up a spray bottle with cold water, add in 3 to 4 drops of Chamomile Oil and spray it directly on your skin.





Tomato Juice and Buttermilk-


Mix 2 teaspoons of Tomato juice and 4 tablespoons of Buttermilk and apply it to your sunburn. The Vitamins A and C in the tomatoes will help replenish your skin.

I don't about natural sunscreens, but I always recommend titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide for those that don't like chemical sunscreens.I can also attest that yogurt, preferably Greek, is great for sunburns. It has lactic acid in it, that is anti-inflammatory and will help ease peeling. I have spent too many summers in Greece (with their fierce suns and my fair skin) flat on my stomach and yogurt slathered on my back.
